Folk Friend founder Nye Farley and Celtic harp teacher extraordinaire Tiffany Schaefer return to show you everything you need to know to accompany Irish music on a wide variety of stringed instruments! This is our second online workshop (the first is available to view online by clicking here) and covers a range of ear training techniques and everything you need to know to pick suitable chords by ear and make your accompaniment sound more professional with substitutions, chord runs, inversions, links, passing chords and lots, lots more! We looked at several tunes including The Old Flail, The Sheep in the Boat, Elizabeth Kelly’s Delight and The Cook in the Kitchen and discovered a whole host of cool chord voicings and interesting techniques for co-existing with other rhythm instrument players, while still adding to the overall sound of the session and without clashing!
This workshop was live streamed over Zoom on July the 13th at the following times.
